Eric Perkins first came to the local NBC affiliate television station in 1996. Perkins is one of the most recognizable faces in Minnesota broadcasting. On July 7, Wednesday morning, Perkins went to Instagram to announce that he has made the decision to leave KARE 11 after 25 long years. His last day on-air with KARE 11 is going to be Aug 8. He is thankful to all his colleagues and audiences for joining him on his journey.

Why is Eric leaving KARE 11? Where is he going?

After working from home for a year during the pandemic, he realized he had been missing family lives so much. The lockdown seemed to make him reassess his priorities. So, there is no scandal or drama on the reason for his exit.

So, what’s next? He honestly has no idea. But he is definitely not continuing his work schedule like before. He is currently only looking forward with great enthusiasm to spend more quality time with his family.

At the same time, he wants to change, grow, extend and push himself again which has not happened lately. But he did add that he might provide content in some form on some platform.

Eric is a proud son of his parents Jack Perkins, a late legendary journalist and Biography host, and Mary Jo Perkins. He was born along with two siblings named Julie and Mark.

Eric is a family man with a lovely wife and three children. His wife’s name is Shelly Perkins. The couple got married at a colorful event attended by close friends and family. They are raising two daughters and a son together named Julia, Maeve, and George.
