Cordero was born as Perara Jessi Harris-Cordero on July 2, 1993 in Charlotte, North Carolina as one of six siblings. She has two sisters; Elektra and Kyphi, and three brothers; Rameses, Seti and Min. Not much is known about Cordero's personal life.

Smith and Cordero have been dating for a while. The couple had become parents only recently, celebrating a gender reveal party in back in March. Cordero gave birth to their baby daughter, Haven Harris Smith, on August 27.

The late mother shared regular updates about her pregnancy on her Instagram. Smith missed the Browns-Colts preseason game to witness Cordero give birth to their daughter. 

Petara's last Instagram post was on September 7. She posted this photo with Chris and in the caption she wrote, "This a forever thing, I love you through everything."

Petara Cordero died in a car accident

The Cleveland Browns shared the heartbreaking news that Chris Smith's girlfriend, Petara, had died in a car accident on I-90 West in Cleveland on the morning of September 11.

"Words cannot describe the sorrow we feel for Chris following the loss of his girlfriend, Petara. Our entire organization mourns with Chris, his family, and the Cordero family. We will do everything possible to offer them our support, comfort and any resources in this most difficult time," said Dee and Jimmy Haslam, co-owners of the Browns.

It was reported by Cleveland police that Cordero was riding in the passenger seat of Smith's Lamborghini when a tire blowout caused the car to hit the median wall. The couple were unharmed and Cordero actually died in a second accident. 

She apparently had exited the car when another vehicle struck theirs and hit Cordero. She was taken to the hospital and she passed away later in the morning. The driver of the vehicle is a 47 year old woman, who had been drinking prior to the accident. Charges have not been filed yet.

Chris Smith recently paid tribute to his late girlfriend on social media. Sharing photos and videos of their precious moments, Smith wrote, "God has a plan for all of us we can’t understand but she is in a better place now and she can rest easy. My wifey my best friend and the mother of my beautiful daughter. Love you baby."
