Seeing the name “Cinderella” in the title, you may be thinking that it would be an animated film but that’s not so. The name is just to relate to the plot of the film.
A Cinderella Story: Christmas Wish is the fifth installment of A Cinderella Story franchise. A product of Warner Bros., the film is the first to be released digitally.
The film is directed by Michelle Johnston, who also directed 2016’s A Cinderella Story: If the Shoe Fits (fourth installment). Johnston also wrote the story and co-produced the film with longtime Cinderella Story producer Dylan Sellers. Trygge Toven and Toko Nagata are the music supervisors.
Talking of the plot of the movie, the storyline is similar to the original Cinderella story. The film stars Disney series Austin and Ally star Laura Marano as Katherine “Kat” Decker, who aspires to become a famous singer-songwriter. But her cruel stepmother Deirdra Decker (portrayed by Johannah Newmarch) and stepsisters Joy Decker (portrayed by Lillian Doucet-Roche) and Grace Decker (portrayed by Chanelle Peloso) forced her into a demoralizing job to stop her from reaching her goals.

Kat’s toxic family forces her to work as a singing elf for billionaire Terrence Wintergarden (portrayed by Riverdale actor Barclay Hope)’s Santa Land. At the park, she falls in love with the Santa Claus imposter Dominic “Nick” Wintergarden (portrayed by Gregg Sulkin).
Next, Kat is invited to the Wintergarden Christmas Gala. Her stepsisters try very hard to stop her from attending the gala but with the help of her dog, her best friend Isla (portrayed by Isabella Gomez), and some magic, Kat reaches the gala and learns the true meaning of Christmas.
Speaking of the film, Mary Ellen Thomas, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Vice President, Family & Animation Marketing, said in a statement, “For 15 years, the A Cinderella Story franchise has enchanted audiences with its emotional storylines, engaging music, and talented young actresses in the key lead role.”
“We know that fans of A Cinderella Story will love this heart-warming holiday tale filled with music and magic,” Thomas added.
