After watching the recent episodes of Summer Newman on The Young and the Restless, fans have started to worry about the fate of their favorite character in the soap. Fans are wondering if Summer Newman’s portrayer Hunter King is leaving the soap for new opportunities. 

Summer Newman’s Early Life

Summer was born to Phyllis Summers and Nick Newman on December 19, 2006, as a result of an affair. Her father was married to Sharon and was drowned in the grieves of the death of his adopted daughter, Cassie Newman. Her mother, on the other hand, was in a relationship with Jack Abbott at that time. 

Phyllis was confused about who was the actual father of Summer. So they decided to get a paternity test. The test result was viewed only by Nick (not even the viewers see it). He announced that he is the real father and married Phyllis. 

Summer Newman Recast 

Summer was portrayed by various actors like Elara and Rhea Kerwin, Bianca and Chiara, D’Ambrosio, Sophia and Angelia Hert, and Samanta Bailey until 2012 when the character was rapidly SORASed into a teenager. Initially, Lindsay Bushman was cast as teen Summer but was quickly replaced by Hunter King, that same year.

At the beginning of October 2018, Summer was recast for a few episodes. The Modern Family star Bayley Corman temporarily filled in for Hunter as she was busy with her primetime series, Life in Pieces. The new Summer Newman replaced King for only three episodes.

Is Summer Newman leaving Y&R?

Summer’s grandmother, Nikki, has put forward an amazing opportunity for her. Nikki told her that Victor wants her to run his business, Newman Enterprises, in Dubai since she has so much experience in the corporate world.

Summer asked for some time to think before she makes any decision. Meanwhile, she runs to Kyle to tell him about Victor’s offer. As expected, Kyle begs Summer to leave him and town and not to come back to him again.

Could this offer from Victor mean the end for Summer’s time in Genoa City? Apparently, Hunter needs more time for her another CBS primetime series, Life in Pieces, where was promoted to series regular in 2016. She dropped back to recurring status with Y&R afterward. 

Summer is still an important part of Y&R canvas and we will have to wait to see what the future holds for her. We will also have to wait to see if Hunter will continue with Y&R or will get replaced.
