What happened to Lia Marie Johnson?
Former YouTuber and singer Lia Marie Johnson is at the center of a bizarre livestream controversy. Fans have voiced concern over Johnson's demeanor in her IG lives, in which she appears to be under the influence and having a mental breakdown.
On December 24, 2019, Lia went on Instagram Live talking about her career and future. Her two-hour livestream raised flags among fans as she seemed to be not in her right mind. Many labeled the live as disturbing and speculated she was on drugs. You could see that she was drinking something from a bagged bottle. Lia later assured fans that she was not on drugs.
But a more recent IG livestream has worried fans once again. On January 2, 2020, Lia was seen in another Instagram live. This time she was with a man but something seemed off. In the live, we can hear the man in the background, saying, "Lia I need this to not go out because it will effect my work."
The man's identity hasn't been confirmed but is believed to be her producer, Stephen Wetherbee. Some fans apparently called the police fearing for Lia's safety and according to Lia, she was handcuffed and detained after.

Lia Marie Johnson was born on November 23, 1996 in Wahiawa, Hawaii. She later relocated with her parents to California. She created her YouTube channel in 2007 with the help of her mother. Her channel featured her participating in various talent shows and later she began uploading commentary, sketch comedy and song covers.
In 2010, Lia was seen in her first Fine Brothers' Kids React video. She would go on to appear in several react videos on the Fine Brother's channel and later graduated to Teens React. In 2014, she began appearing on YouTubers React.
Following her YouTube fame, Lia released her debut single, Moment Like You, in January 2015. Her second single, DNA, was released in October 2016 after she signed to Capitol Records. After two more singles, Cold Heart Killer, and Champagne, Lia teased her new project in November 2019. Her fourth single, Moonflower, was released on November 23, 2019.
Besides her own music videos, Lia has appeared on Troye Sivan's Youth and Post Malone's Go Flex. She played Ellie Harper in the Logan Paul movie The Thinning and its sequel The Thinning 2.
