Corey was first arrested in October 2016 in his hometown of Canton, Georgia, after a couple accused him of having molested their 8-year-old daughter. He was released the same day on a $22,000 bond. According to investigators, he was reported to Cherokee Sheriff's Office detectives by the girl's parents in September of that year.

He was arrested again in November by officials in Walton County, Florida. He was charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of the same girl. Police told that the girl's mother accused Sligh of touching her daughter inappropriately and forcing her to touch him too while they were on a vacation in Rosemary Beach. The incidents were reported to have taken place between March and July of 2016.

On June 28, 2018, a Cherokee Georgia court convicted the fledging actor of one of two counts of child molestation. He was found guilty of the first charge and was cleared of the second one. Sligh has not been sentenced yet. District attorney Shannon Wallace told the Cherokee Tribune that he could face five to twenty years in jail.

Sligh was scheduled to be sentenced on August 20, 2018, but Judge David L. Cannon, Jr., has ordered a new trial because the jury's verdict "was against the weight of the evidence."
