In a backstage interview, Bobby Roode made an announcement that he would now be known as Robert Roode. On April 22, the Canadian wrestler referred to himself as Robert Roode and also debuted his new thick mustache. “You can now formally address me as ‘The Glorious’ Robert Roode,” he said.

He recently ended his partnership with Chad Gable as Gable moved to SmackDown. “And how do I feel [about losing Gable]? I’ve never felt better in my entire career. I have never felt better in my entire life. Because of the Superstar Shake-up, I’ve been able to drop 150 pounds of dead weight by the name of Chad Gable," he continued.

Bobby Roode real name

Although their names and their appearances are somewhat similar, there is no familiar connection between the two wrestlers. 

Roode's real name is Robert Francis Roode Jr. while Rick Rude's real name is Richard Erwin Rood. Rick Rude was best known by his alias 'The Ravishing Rick Rude' in his professional wrestling career. The Minnesota native died of a heart failure on April 20, 1999, at the age of 40. 

Roode was born in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada on May 11, 1977. He debuted on June 19, 1998. He is married to his wife Tracey Roode and they have three children together.
