Why is Abby Huntsman leaving The View?

Viewers were shocked to learn that Abby Huntsman would be leaving The View soon. The anchor announced her departure on air on January 13. She revealed that she is leaving the show to join her father Jon Huntsman Jr. on his campaign for governor of Utah as his senior advisor. 

Talking about her decision, Huntsman said on the show, "When you take a step back and you think about life, think about your kids, think about what you want to do every day that just gets you going, and there's no one I believe in more than my own dad right now to run for politics and I get emotional because I do love him so much."

Her final episode on The View will be on Friday, January 7.

Huntsman joined the show as a co-host in its 22nd season, with her first episode airing on September 4, 2018. At the time of her transitioning from Fox & Friends to The View, she had a toddler. Now she is a mom to three kids. 

While her father's gubernatorial campaign is the main reason that she's leaving, there is another factor that brought on this decision - the toxic environment at The View.

Abby Huntsman Meghan McCain fight

Abby Huntsman's move comes amid her complaints of a toxic culture at The View and recent tensions between her and The View co-host Meghan McCain. According to CNN, "half a dozen people" mentioned the difficult relationship between the two co-hosts as one of the reasons behind Huntsman decision to leave the show. 

Neither Huntsman nor McCain have commented on this. Their professional relationship took a turn for the worse after McCain confronted Huntsman on the subject of bringing up her kids on the show. McCain has been vocal about her miscarriage in 2018 and her challenged with fertility. 

"Abby was sick of being berated by Meghan for perceived slights. She ultimately decided she didn't need this job and it wasn't worth it," an insider told CNN. But it seems the ladies have buried the hatchet. McCain commended Huntsman decision to lead her father's campaign and the two even hugged at the end of the show.

Although people might want to blame the fight with Meghan McCain as the reason behind Huntsman's departure, there is nothing controversial about the affair. We're sad to see Abby leave The View so soon but there's always a possibility of her returning to the show in the near future.
