Luka Magnotta is the subject of the new Netflix documentary, Don't F**k With Cats: Hunting an Internet Killer. The new true crime documentary has taken the internet by storm and it might be the creepiest one yet.
The latest offering on Netflix, Don’t F With Cats: Hunting an Internet Killer, dropped on December 18 and has sparked a lot of social media reaction. The three part series tells the story of one of Canada’s most infamous crimes, the murder of Lin Jun. Here's what happened to Luka Magnotta.
After the murder, Magnotta fled to Europe, where he was eventually apprehended in an internet cafe. He was reportedly reading the news stories about his crimes. He was convicted of Lin's murder in 2014 and got life in prison. He will be eligible for parole in 20 years.
Magnotta is presently serving life sentence in Port Cartier prison in Quebec. He got married to another inmate, Anthony Jolin, in 2017. Jolin is another convicted murderer.

In 2012, Magnotta murdered Lin Jun, a 33 year old computer engineering student who came to the United States from China. Investigators theorize that Magnotta committed crimes to fulfill his twisted desires for notoriety and fame. Well, what he did to Lin Jun certainly made him infamous in Canada, even being dubbed Newsmaker of the Year in 2012.
After Magnotta's alarming videos, in which he can be seen torturing kittens, made its way to the internet, amateur sleuths Deanna Thompson and John Green set up a Facebook group to find him. They deduced clues from the videos to figure out who Magnotta was. In 2012, a reporter from British publication, The Sun, confronted Magnotta in London, after which he wrote a letter to the outlet saying his next target "won't be small animals."
On May 24, 2012, Magnotta arranged a meeting with Lin Jun at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec through Craigslist. The following day, he posted the video of him brutally murdering Lin.
Lin Jun's family traveled to the United States for Magnotta's trial. His father, Lin Diran's victim impact statement reads: "In one night, we lost a lifetime of hope. I had come to see your trial system to see justice done and I leave satisfied that you have not let my son down. I had come to learn what happened to my son that night and I leave without a true or a complete answer. I had come to see remorse, to hear some form of apology, and I leave without anything.”

Luka Magnotta was born as Eric Kirk Newman to teenage parents in 1982 in Toronto. His parents separated and his mother remarried. According to his mother, Anna Yourkin, Luka’s father was a proud Nazi and an abusive husband.
Luka was homeschooled for most of his childhood and used to be bullied when he eventually went to a public school, leading him to drop out. Luka spent time in mental health facilities and was later diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.
