Nathan Gilbert joined This Old House cast in 2017
Nathan was one of the three people selected in the first class of Generation NEXT apprentices and joined the This Old House team in the summer of 2017 on the Newton Generation NEXT project. In 2018, he spoke before senators and congressmen at the Capitol Hill on the skilled trades gap in the construction industry. He appeared at the opening ceremony of the International Builder's Show the same year.
The carpenter didn't have much expectations after his apprenticeship with the show ended. However, a few months later, he was invited by the Ask This Old House producers to make some house calls alongside Tom Silva. He accepted and has been a part of This Old House cast ever since.

Nathan Gilbert Bio: Family and age
Nathan Gilbert was born in 1989 which makes him 29 years old in 2019. He is a native of East Bridgewater. He learned the trade of carpentry from his father, who owned a business south of Boston. As a matter of fact, his father once appeared in an early season of This Old House.
After graduating high school, he followed the family tradition and joined the US Navy's construction battalion. He served five years in Afghanistan, Djibouti and Timor Lester. He returned home in 2014 and started his own finish carpentry business.
If you look at his Instagram (@nathanhgilbert), you'll see that Nathan Gilbert has a wife. He is married to Maine native Erica Gilbert. They tied the knot in December 2017. Nathan and his wife currently live south of Boston.
