WCVB’s long-time anchor and medical reporter, Emily Riemer has announced her departure in 2021. Emily Riemer, who has not only won awards for her work but has also interviewed Mr. Obama when she received an invitation to the White House. Her sudden announcement of leaving the station has saddened many daily viewers of WCVB. Most particularly, they want to know where Emily is going. Does she have a new job? When did Emily Reimer join WCVB-TV? How long did she work at the station?

According to her LinkedIn profile, Emily began her career working as a video journalist in Capital News 9. Her next job after that was as a reporter in WSYX/WTTE which was exactly before she joined WCVB. She started to work at WCVB in march 2011 as an anchor/reporter. After working for nearly 6 years in that position, her position doubled to anchor/medical reporter. 

In total, Emily worked at WCVB for a total of 10 years.

When did Emily leave the station? Her last day

Emily announced via her social media that she is leaving WCVB this year. Her last day at the station was June 25, 2021. Check out the video of Emily anchoring on her last day.  After a long time working as a journalist, Emily felt right and decided to step back from her career. She also said that this year was most challenging in both personal and professional ways for her.

The main reason behind her big decision was not a new job but her own family. She wants to keep focus mainly on her family and herself. Although her fans are sad, they were very supportive and encouraging when they found out she is prioritizing her family before work.

Sadly, we would not be seeing Emily on screen until she changes her mind.

However, Emily was always active on social media mainly because of her work, but she might not be active like before onwards.

Emily has a very good educational background. She holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She earned her bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from Ithaca College in 2003 and her master’s degree in international communications from the University of Leeds in 2006.

Emily is happily married to her husband, Kyle Riemer. The couple tied the knot on April 14, 2011. In their ten years of togetherness, Emily went to Instagram to share this lovely picture of the couple together. Emily and Kyle are also parents to three kids named Jack, Valerie Nin, and Ryan. The family of five who were living in Massachusetts recently headed south and will be residing in North Carolina from now.

Emily urged her followers to take Covid-19 vaccines like her

Emily recently got both doses of Covid-19 vaccines and wants her followers to do the same. She expressed how happy she was after she reunited with her family, which only happened after she took the vaccine. She also got to meet some relatives of hers for the first time in 18 months.

For everyone’s safety, she is encouraging her social media followers to take the vaccine as soon as possible.
